WHIMSICAL 1950's BLACK FELT I LIKE IKE APRON WITH CARTOON ELEPHANTS! - JULI LYNNE CHARLOT
1950's felt "I LIKE IKE" apron created by JULI LYNNE CHARLOT. Ink black with gray, red, white & blue felt. Applied elephants with balloons. One balloon: "I Like Ike", one elephant carries sign: "I Like Ike...", one elephant writing: "more than ever". We assume this meant that it was Dwight Eisenhower's second term, 1956. Three balloons on either side tethered with streamers, then three floating balloons. The die cut appliques are glued and stitched to the apron. Typical of Juli Lynne, apron is cut as nearly full circle (see photo)! Black grosgrain ribbon applied as waistband tie/sash. Although there is no JLC label, we purchased it directly from Juli Lynne's niece years ago when we purchased dozens and dozens of other pieces, including garments such as this, from her personal collection.
Approximate Measurements:
Waist, from one side of the apron to the other at the tie - 19"
Ribbon tie, full length - 29 1/2"
Length, measured from waist seam varies - 11" to 13 1/2"
Condition:
EXCELLENT condition. Light soil & smudge from gluing process and the waistband tie is slightly faded.
